How we consume media

Let’s take a look at how we consume media in rural areas. I have learned through twenty years in Economic Development that no matter how much I advertise an event, people will say, “I didn’t know that was going on”. The event can be advertised on the radio, on the local channel, on social media, through flyers, in the newspapers, and on the table tents and I will still get this reaction.

As was the case with this past month’s Launch & Grow event which was advertised on 120 table tents printed by McBattas, on social media, on the radio, and at the Belleville Chamber Coffee. It’s a more specialized event, not necessarily meant for the general public. Launch & Grow is geared toward current and potential businesses in Republic County. These people did attend the event and so did those who were interested in the topic at hand, “Thirteen Ways to Kill Your Community“. The topic was of interest, as it should be, to the Republic County Economic Development Board Members and those people did attend as well. Should we of extended the invitation to the City Council of each town in the County, the County Commissioners, and the Chamber of Commerce? Probably. But, after the Launch & Grow event, the information was shared out through various media outlets to be consumed by interested parties that were not in attendance.

No matter how you consumed the media and the information from the Launch & Grow meeting, we thank you for wanting to launch and grow your business here in Republic County. You are following in the footsteps of some major business and industry that have thrived right here.
